THE BOXES ARE PACKED

As those in the know will know, ZUZUSHII ART LABORATORY have left the building, are in transition, in the void between there and the next, hunting for the ART BARGE. We have not got there yet, but have faith, we travel light and the light will show us the way, and in the meantime – have a gander at zuzushiiart – that‘s our instagram thing. Many thanks to those who helped to get us moving, in another new direction, the boxes are packed, the future on tap.

ALMOST TIME TO LEAVE.

Well, this is almost it!

Tomorrow, Sunday 24th July. Doors open at 10 for the all day Great Art Raffle, select a piece of art for £20, or the Lucky Dip for £10, how can you go wrong?

Many thanks,

Tim and Fumico.

ps. For people who need to be picking stuff up, a special reminder – sooner, there‘s not much later left.

THE EMBARKATION EXHIBITION.

Private view Sat 9th July – 12 till 6pm.

Exhibition runs from Wednesday 6th to Sunday 31st July.

We have some news. ZUZUSHII ART LABORATORY are embarking on a new project, The ZUZUSHII ART BARGE. A touring platform of performance and visual creativity, to traverse the waterways of the UK. It‘s an ambitious plan but the journey starts here, our gallery on White Rock will close it‘s doors at the end of this show, a new chapter will begin.

Money is an object, but the real objective is to clear the decks (so to speak), we won‘t be taking anything with us. This is where we need your help and we are serious, everything must go, one way or another. We‘ve also started a crowd funding mission – link below – many littles can go a long way.

One last thing, a thousand thanks to all who have been with us on the journey so far – and you‘ll be most welcome to come aboard on the next leg of the voyage.

Kind regards from us and hope to see you soon,

Tim and Fumico.

PARROTING

1st-14th November 2021
Zuzushii Art Laboratory, 26 White Rock, Hastings, TN34 1JY

Opening hours:
1st-7th November 10am-5pm
10th-14th November 10am-5pm
Private view: Tuesday 2nd November 6.30pm – 9.30pm

Bringing together the work of artists Josie Rae Turnbull and Kate Tipler, PARROTING opens a conversation on human perspectives of nature in the built environment. Just as a parrot mimics human language without understanding the linguistic meaning of the sounds it is making, so do we echo fragments of what we see in the world around us, without having the capacity to fully understand these forms. By extension, the artists mimic this action, reflecting parts of reality by taking photographs and reproducing them in inverted forms.

Josie (@friedspectacle) is an artist and art educator from London, who is currently studying for an MA in Art and Science at Central Saint Martins after a number of years living and working in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. She is currently expanding her lens based practice into multimedia printmaking and cast sculpture.

Kate (@katetipler) is an artist and writer from Hastings who is now based in Bristol. She recently returned from HCMC, Vietnam where she lived for seven years. Before this, she studied Comparative Literature at Goldsmiths University and she has also worked as a journalist, editorial photographer and educator. More recently, her practice has given her the space to experiment further with photography alongside textiles, installation and participatory performative events.
